The Cirrus airplane that I used to own and fly was equipped with Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS). I used to have a link here to a video showing a test deployment of the chute, but that stopped working at some point, so I've updated with three Youtube videos. The first is the test deployment from before. The second is a real life deployment by a pilot that was flying a brand new Cirrus from the U.S. west coast to Hawaii. He had a problem with the fuel system within 253 miles of his destination, deployed the chute, and was rescued by a cruise ship. The video was captured by the Coast Guard. The third video shows a 2015 incident where the chute was used to safely float down from the sky to the ground without injuries.
